Accessibility statement

Our target

We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across noddienight.com. We treat that as a standard to keep meeting as the site changes, not a badge we have been awarded. The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so we describe it as partially conforming: most of it meets the standard, and the parts we know do not are listed below.

What we have done

• Keyboard. The site is built to be used without a mouse. There is a “Skip to content” link on every page, the mobile menu opens from the keyboard, closes with Escape and returns focus to its button, and keyboard focus always has a visible outline.
• Structure. Pages use one main heading, headings in order, and landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer, so screen reader users can move around quickly.
• Color and contrast. The text and link colors in our palette were checked with the WCAG contrast formula and meet at least 4.5:1 against the backgrounds they are used on. Links in running text are underlined, so color is never the only cue.
• Zoom and small screens. Pages are built mobile-first and reflow on small screens and at high zoom without sideways scrolling. A table that is too wide scrolls inside its own box, not the whole page.
• Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations, the scrolling fact strip and smooth scrolling are turned off.
• Forms. Every field has a visible label. Errors are written in words, tied to the field they belong to, and announced to screen readers. We never claim a form was sent when it was not.
• Images and symbols. Meaningful images have text alternatives. Decorative symbols, such as the ✳ and ↗ marks, are hidden from assistive technology.
• Product information as text. The Supplement Facts, ingredients, directions and warnings printed on the bottle are also published as text on our Product facts page.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you than have you find out the hard way.

• Embedded video. Our brand film is hosted on YouTube and plays in YouTube's own player. Its captions are generated automatically by YouTube and may contain mistakes, and the film does not have an audio-described version. Anything you need to know to choose, buy or use the product is written on the page, not only said in the film.
• Checkout and payment. Payment is completed on a page hosted by Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe maintains the accessibility of that page, and we cannot change it. If anything in checkout stops you, email us and we will help you complete your order.
• Live chat. The chat window has had less testing with screen readers than the rest of the site. Email is a complete alternative.
• Photographs of the label. Some product photographs show small print on the bottle that cannot be enlarged cleanly. The same wording is available as text on the Product facts page.
• Emails. Our order and newsletter emails have not been reviewed for accessibility as closely as the site. If an email is hard to read, reply to it and we will send the information in plain text.

How we test

Pages are checked by us before they go live: by keyboard only, at phone widths down to 320 pixels (the same as 400% zoom on a laptop), with motion reduced, and with color contrast calculated rather than judged by eye. We have not yet tested with every screen reader and browser combination, which is one reason your reports matter.

Report a problem

It helps if you can tell us:

• the page you were on, and what you were trying to do;
• what went wrong;
• the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.

We will confirm we have your report within 2 business days, tell you what we plan to do about it, and let you know when it is fixed. If you needed the information or the order in the meantime, we will get it to you another way.
